Medias Reliability

As radios and televisions were being introduced into the homes of families, news provided by these mediums were highly trusted. Not until the presidential runs of multiple presidents like Nixon, Eisenhower, Johnson, and Kennedy, the trust in the media exponentially began to decline. The trust in the government was at an all time low and any reports made by journalists were disregarded and foreboding. The trust in the media had sunk so low that “healthy skepticism became a civically disabling cynicism” as Michael Schudson says in his Colombia Post. Surprisingly, news feeds were far more unreliable back when they began to pick up popularity than they are now. As of today, we are able to browse the internet and dig deeper into a subject we want to know about. There are biased media but media is far more accessible and user friendly than it was a few decades ago.
