Minamata is a story of inaimaginable horror, still effecting local community.

While trying to find a movie to watch on a Saturday night that wasn't the same old classic avengers movie the husband wants to watch every single week for the rest of his life, we came across a movie named Minamata, while looking up the reviews of said film we saw that it was about a journalist named Eugene Smith that was sent to investigate what was happening in Minamata a city in Japan causing deformities, illnesses and death in the local families in the area. In 1956 a company was brought in to provide local jobs and more intuitive prospects for the future. Chisso Corporation was dumping inorganic mercury in the water where the locals consumed mostly sea life and that the sea life was contaminated by the chemical being dumped in the water where they fished. How can corporations be allowed to create such a horrific attack without being held accountable. Eugene Smith tasked with the name as the photographer that wanted to photograph everything. "To Gene it was an issue dear to his heart- prejudice, injustice, the courage to fight." He wanted the world to see the truth to the world due to his investigative journalism and photography the company could no longer keep the secret hidden and it was exposed to the whole world and New Chisso Corporation has been able to pay 86 million back to the families effected and have proposed to clean up the body of water.
