Mistrust of Mass Media


The golden age of journalism resides in the world we see today, and our ability to be informed by the technology at the tip of our fingertips is just one of the many reasons that support this commonly mentioned statement. Although, it seems that one of the biggest issues currently being faced by journalists has been the audience’s hesitance towards mass media. A fairly recent Business Insider survey reveals that 46% of journalists see a lack of trust in the news as the biggest challenge in modern journalism. This rings true for the Americans consuming media, as the distrust reaches an all-time record of 33%. But why do so many Americans hold so much doubt into the internet? The value of media has been re-arranged due to consistently churned bias found by endless clicking most users on the internet go through every day. Recent predictions gathered for 2022 bring a sense of passion by these journalists, quality and fact-checking remain a staple for these coming years.
