The coup from the Myanmar military was over a year ago and has passed over the minds of few people in the western world since. However, for those that are within the country itself the issue is still ongoing. This is the case with the Muslim minority within the country, the Rohingya people. They have been a target to a "new aged genocide" as the Biden administration puts it. There has been reports of killings, mass rape and arson of the Rohingyans since the year of 2017 and has increased since the coup took place. Many to this day are still fleeing according to the BBC.
