There was some controversy a few months ago when Google announced it was going to change its Google Workspace settings. Based on my understanding Google will remove the previous setting "Web & App Activity" and change it into two new settings. The article summarizes this into two parts, the first change is "It will now be up to each user in an organization to hunt down and change the settings themselves" (Ars Technica, 2022). All previous security changes will not carry over and each person needs to change their settings individually instead. The second step means that there are now two new settings, "Web & App Activity" and the new setting "Search History." A big part of the controversy is the fact that "Search History has never technically existed before, it will be turned on by default for every user" (Ars Technica, 2022). These updates are not out yet, but I recommend any Google Workspace users to turn off these invasive trackers.
