This article uses its rhetorical approach in graphs and polls from 11,178 respondents. The graphs cover the percentage used on specific social media platforms, stating that social media usage for acquiring news has slightly decreased from 2020-2021. “Today, 55% of Twitter users regularly get news from its platform, compared with 59% last year. Meanwhile, Reddit users’ use of the site for news dropped from 42% to 39% in 2021. YouTube fell from 32% to 30%, and Snapchat fell from 19% to 16%. Instagram is roughly the same, at 28% in 2020 to 27% in 2021.” They account for this decrease by stating that the technological world has been inapt to ensure their content is accurate. They use the current skepticism of the pandemic and hesitation to get vaccinated as an example of the outcome of misleading information being posted.
To obtain the most accurate information, it would be wise to research and look at multiple platforms or avenues to retain the news.
