As of right now there are many issues facing journalists but also many new opportunities. When asked about their predictions for the future of journalism, many expressed optimistic views for the future. For example, one journalist by the name of Meena Thiruvengadam stated that "We now have a better understanding of our power, not just to generate revenue but to create a news business that is more equitable, more fair, and better to the people who power it.” While many are skeptical of the mass surplus of information being thrown at consumers, others see it as a great way for readers to diversify their media intake. Overall the field is growing and diversifying as more and more students decide to enter the field of journalism.
