The way the social media platform Reddit shares news is different from other social media platforms. It has a specific place within the platform that allows all users to post news articles or media related to news. This is different compared to Twitter, where you follow a specific person or organization to stay notified of current world events. The “subreddit" called r/news is one of the most popular subreddits within the platform. However there have been accusations of biased moderation and the silencing of a minority of users. These users are usually silenced by being called a troll or a bot and banned by the moderators from posting again in the subreddit. Many users complain of a “leftist bias" and how titles and articles are distorted in order to support the poster's views. Investigating these accusations is difficult because deleted comments cannot be found through normal means, and any moderator I ask just deflects the question and tells me they broke the rules. I do not believe in rumors, but I think there may be some truth because I had a moderator ban me just for asking about the accusations.
