Reddit vs. Twitter

If you click on Reddit's "News" tab, you will be given topics that allow you to filter your news by certain categories. Some of these categories include "US/World," "Politics," and "Science." Reddit seems to put the stories that have more upvotes toward the top of each category. When browsing the "All Stories" section, I found that the first few posts related to politics or global affairs. The posts then became quite varied in terms of content, ranging from robots, to a shooting in Israel, to the Oscars. While Twitter's news tab is similarly varied in its content, the one thing that stood out the most was how boring the stories looked when compared to the ones Reddit presented.

The main reason Reddit's stories appeared far more captivating was because each one contained an image that was much bigger than the headline. The idea is that you see the image first and then discover what it's relating to in the title above. On the contrary, Twitter's stories were cluttered together and were sorted seemingly at random. Additionally, the images of each story were tiny and hard to see compared to those on Reddit. Reddit's smart visual presentation makes their news far more digestible than Twitter.
