Journalists have an important responsibility in today's world, they inform us of the going ons of the world, the hidden truths, the tragedies. Some of these journalists go above and beyond in their pursuit of the truth to the point where they put their lives on the line. One such journalist is Illia Ponomarenko a reporter on the front lines of the Ukraine war. He travels with the troops, side by side through conflicts gathering information on the bloodshed that's occurring, giving the outside world a look into the horrors of the war in Ukraine. Without a doubt, this up-close view of the war gives his reporting a strength and intensity that wouldn't otherwise be possible. This line emphasizes both the atrocities of war and the personal connection he has to it "Those scorched ruins the world is looking at in pictures and videos used to be the Mariupol State University where I spent five happy years as a student. " We should all be thankful for reporters like Illia, the people who put it all on the line to make sure the truth can find its way out.
