In Hamilton County, Indiana roughly 200 volunteers get together for the White RiVer Cleanup, also known as the “scavenger hunt”, to walk/float the banks and pick up debris. It’s not uncommon that they run across things such as motorcycles and refrigerator, but mostly they will find paper and plastic cups, plates and styrofoam as well as tires. They will provide kayaks and canoes to volunteers free of charge. ”This year’s White River Cleanup takes on a new purpose because of a long range region-wide plan to bring the river back to health”. This is a beautiful idea and I hope this can be inherited into other communities to help fight back on our trash pollution. https://www.indystar.com/story/news/local/hamilton-county/2021/07/28/white-river-cleanup-has-renewed-purpose-long-term/8069424002/ [1 link, 1 quote, 1 image, 118 words]
