The Ted talk "The benefits of a bilingual brain." begins with a hook; this hook engages the audience and causes them to pay attention. The speaker explains what the Ted talk is about and how people will differ depending on when a second language is obtained. If a second language is obtained early in childhood while obtaining their first language, then the brain will be able to use both languages simultaneously. If the second language was acquired later in life, such as when one is a teenager. They will likely, be able to use the language by swapping between their native tongue and English. There were some points in this Ted Talk in which I didn't quite believe what the speaker was saying. For instance, they said being fluent in two languages made you resilient against Alzheimer's, and "it can cause you to be a better problem solver.". They make some good points when it comes to language perception; and how others will see you depending on how you speak.
