The Future of Journalism: Community and Web 3.0?

Every year, NiemanLab posts predictions from "the smartest people in journalism" of what they think is coming for journalism and media on their website.

One of the biggest trends of opinions I see from many journalists on this website is the role of community in the future of Journalism. Some people, like Francesco Zaffarano say, "Data's not enough: It's time to meet with your community." Joy Mayer says the future of journalism is one where we turn to our communities to reflect on. Basically, many people on this website believe there will be an increase in community in the future of journalism.

I've also seen a trend of mentions in "Web 3.0." Many people like Daniel Eilemberg say, "In 2022 journalism will 'pivot' to Web3." Doing my own research, I have found out that Web 3.0 is an idea (nothing much developed of it yet) of the future of the internet. Boiled down, Web 3.0 will supposedly give internet users more freedom over their data. Freedom in what you are able to post and in what data others track from you. More freedom in what you can post is definitely something journalism could benefit from. Many journalists believe this is the future of journalism.
