The future of journalism: Where is it headed?

Isn’t it safe to say that the future of journalism is looking bright? I’d say so. The growing demand for journalist jobs will be up by the year 2024. Everyone is starting to realize how great it is to be a journalist. Noted, I said journalist and not reporter. The difference? Well, a reporter is tasked with the job of delivering news to the world. They don't fact check, because they expect the news that they are given to be already fact-checked. A journalist on the other hand collects information, investigates their findings, and then craft their stories around what they found. Although, most journalists end up as reporters. Getting back to the topic at hand, The job of a journalist is steadily growing. This means that the window of opportunity is closing smaller than it already is. I personally feel like the work might be a bit easy for them with the technology we have at our hands, but at the same time, journalists would have to be careful of false information. “First, we have moved from a world where media organizations were gatekeepers to a world where media still create the news agenda, but platform companies control access to audiences” [W.E Forum. Jan 23rd, 2019] It's hard to get the real “scoop” on things when some journalists are stopped in their tracks by their managers because lots of times, Managers and Media owners don't think that quality will sell. Another key issue that journalists face is that journalism education doesn't prepare a journalist for the future of journalism.
