Gen Z is a very different audience compared to the older generations. Gen Z tends to look for media that is "less traditional, more mobile, and more accessible"; however, this does not make them any less serious than older generations (Julia Munslow).
Over the last couple of years, the media has been shifting towards mediums that catch the eye more. We've transitioned from the paper press, to Facebook, and now to social media apps like Tik-Tok and Snapchat. According to Munslow, "those under 35 pay the most attention to internet personalities [and] form parasocial relationships with celebrities and influencers on social media." Though this can lead to spreading of misinformation by bad actors who have a big online presence, it is an important innovation that should be used to reach younger audiences.
