The Persistence of Remote Journalism

As was the case in most industries, journalists saw a transition from working in offices to working from home. However, while most industries have begun to transition back to the office, Mandy Jenkins sees a future for journalists in continued remote work. In NeimanLab's Predictions for Journalism 2022, Mandy Jenkins predicts, "We all had to find a way to work effectively outside the office. Now that we’ve been doing it a while, I suspect many will be lobbying to keep working from home, even if it is just a few days a week." Since many journalists have gotten acclimated and made accommodations for working outside of the office, it is likely that these journalists will want to continue working remotely for the foreseeable future. According to Jenkins, "We’ve gotten into a groove — and really, who wants to put dress shoes on again, anyway?"
