The Rhetorical Practice of Saying Nothing

The latest significant news in relation to the January 6th insurrection has been the concern over Ginni Thomas’ involvement. Ginni Thomas, a right-wing activist, is also the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who is one of the justice’s overseeing the trials involving the issue. I’ve read articles from The New York Times, NPR, and Fox News to see how media sources have decided to discuss this information. The New York Times and NPR go into depth with their information, saying how Ginni Thomas was in constant contact with President Trump's chief of staff leading up to January 6th. However, I was disappointed to find that Fox fails to have any articles related to Ginni Thomas’ involvement, rather the relevant article I found was instead about a tweet from UCLA’s equity director saying “[we all] hope Clarence Thomas dies.” Fox succeeds in delivering shocking news, but articles over tweets aren’t informative over a scandal involving the credibility of our most powerful justice system.
