There is much fear and uncertainty for journalists and anyone in the business of providing news as a service. The future is barreling towards us like a rocket at a rate that has never been seen before and technology is what is fueling it. Businesses and entire industries that fail to earn their ticket on the rocket are being left behind en masse. Media companies and news organizations as well as the journalists who contribute to them are scrambling to keep up with the changes in the ways people consume news and information. In his write-up for NiemanLab's Predictions for Journalism 2022, Shalabh Upadhyay says "News organizations are increasingly moving from being a primary source of information to being a source of validation of already-consumed news." Upadhyay makes the argument that the value that news organization used to have is quickly going away as people are able to access information at a rate that was impossible at the turn of the century 21st. Shalabh eloquently lays out the need for journalists and news organizations to focus on adapting to the changing world and to strive for, above all else to adhere to the principles of transparency and objectivity.
