Could you imagine being surrounded by water and then be told that you need to conserve water? Well that's what is exactly happening in Oahu, Hawaii. Because of a fuel leak at the Navy's Red Hill fuel facility, three of the municipal wells have been closed off. The closing of the municipal wells was a precautionary measure after the contamination of the navy's drinking water system. How will this work when the heat of summer in the coming months? "The increased water use bodes bodes poorly for summer, when water demand will likely rise during the drier months, boosting the chance that the Board of Water Supply will have to impose mandatory water conservation measures". I think this would be a turning point in which fuel would only be needed for unavoidable circumstances. In remote places like this, I think converting completely to electric, if possible, would be the wisest choice in hopes that something like this would not happen again.
