Trusting in the news again

While reading "The year we ask the audience what it needs" by Francesco Zaffarano on Niemlab website, I started to think about all the media consumption of the day. We view what they have put out for us but it might not necessarily be what we want to read. When do we get to choose the most important factors of the media? The nonsense videos being streamed everyday and the just old news that everyone has seen a million times over. We need to start demanding the media we need and want to see. More coverage on the things that really matter to us and what is going to really affect us in our daily lives. "This year, the sense of isolation caused by lockdown has pushed a lot of people toward online communities to fill the void left by the lack of social interactions". Being that this article was released last year, I could say that coverage has shifted more to the needs to know and not what is politically smart for newscasters.
