During the 94th Academy Awards, Will Smith shocked the audience when he walked up to Chris Rock and smacked Chris during his monologue. Chris Rock was hosting and commented on Jada Smith and said, "Jada, I love you. G.I. Jane 2, I can't wait to see it. Alright?" Now following this statement, the camera immediately shot Jada's face when this was said and followed this statement with an aggressive eye roll. Jada Smith has been diagnosed with alopecia since 2018 and shaved her head bald on an appearance on her show, "The Red Tabe Talk." The character in the show Chris referenced her to was bald and all related to each other. When Chris told the joke in the recorded video, Will Smith laughed, but after the cameras pointed away, he walked toward the stage and slapped Chris, so I'm assuming Jada told Will something, and that's when he proceeded to the stage.
After Will Smith slapped Chris Rock while Will was walking to his seat, Chris said, "Will Smith just f—king smacked the s—t out of me." And after that was said, Will screamed to Chris on the stage, "Keep my wife's name out your f—king mouth. Keep my wife's name out your f—king mouth!" Many think it was staged, including me, since Will Smith laughed when Chris Rock made his statement and when Will Smith walked off the stage. It doesn't make sense or add up why Will Smith was laughing. I think it was staged. If it was staged, I don't think that was a great prank on society because Will Smith lost his award and could have been charged, while many others were traumatized by the event.
