In the World of Journalism: The Rise of Millennials

The rise of millennials. Is this a secret society? Or a promise of a new, all powerful generation? No, millennials are no special then the rest of the other generations. However, they are stepping up to take the mantle from their successors.

In the world of journalism, millennials were struggling to gain footing as solid leaders. They were often looked on as radical, diverse, and too savvy with technology by the older news reporters. Then Covid-19 happened and the world was forced to evolve. In Predictions for Journalism 2021, Julia B. Chan and Kim Bui noted how "A number of us middle-management, mid-career, extremely online, slack-loving newsroom leaders saw and seized the opportunity to help entire news organizations figure out how to keep doing journalism and save our audiences." When their audiences were forced to go online during lockdown, the millennials were now playing in their own hometown. Millennials lead that change from in person interviews and office broadcasting to virtual meetings and vibrant online news posts.

Until next time,

good afternoon, good evening, and good night.
