3 Terms of President Trump?

I found my first fake news discovery to be pretty interesting. Thus, I dug deeper. I found the claim “U.S. President Donald Trump said he will not leave office at the end of his elected term”. Once again, I just thought this sounded ridiculous. Interestingly though, this turned out to be false, but it goes to show that there is fake news being perpetuated from both sides of the political spectrum. It turns out president Trump did joke about not leaving office. The president said, “make it 12 years and you’ll drive them crazy”. The “them” was referring to his critics in the quote. According to Snopes, “Trump has never seriously stated that he would refuse to leave office, and in June 2020 he told Fox News he will leave office to ‘go on, do other things’ if not re-elected”. I’m starting to get the impression that we as a society are only exacerbating political polarization with these false claims. [1 image, 1 quote, 1 link, 168 words]
