The state of Texas has experienced one of its worst snowstorms it has seen in many years. This has led to ongoing blackouts and a lack of running water all across the state. The front page of The Dallas Morning News reports over this issue. The headline is a simple three-word statement, “Millions without power,” with an image of “a city of Dallas truck [spreading] deicing materials” on a street. This front page has a more informative approach to reporting on this issue with information such as the governor's call for a solution and that recovery is likely to take many days. This same story is being reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. However, this front page takes a much more emotional approach in its reporting. The headline says “’ Misery takes over’ North Texans in 40-degree homes fear the unknown, oncoming snow” with an image of two people wearing winter clothes inside their house. Both newspapers are reporting on the same issue, but each one follows a different strategy for how they want to report on the issue.
