A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

I think one of the main goals that news articles such as the Arizona Republic and the Los Angeles Times attempt to derive out from people is emotion. And in order to do that they must first attract the attention of the potential reader thus integrating a large photo into the article, but not just any large photo. They must strategically find a photo with meaning. In this case with both articles talking about the supreme court ruling for DACA one photo depicts an emotional embrace from hearing of the denial of a request under the words “ Justice rule for ‘Dreamers’” while the other depicts a community rallying for their people with a butterfly symbolizing the “Dreamers” which was what the entire program was about under the words “ High Court Backs DACA".
