While many political thrillers focus on fictional stories of corrupt governments and officials, real-life stories tend to be the most exciting. In the 1976 movie "All the President's Men," the story of Richard Nixon and Watergate is seen through the eyes of journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein as they traverse through the complexities of early 1970's politics. https://www.history.com/news/nixon-secret-tapes-quotes-scandal-watergate
The movie differs from other thrillers in the sense that it flows less like a grand cinematic story and more like an extremely accurate telling of the events in question. For anybody looking to watch incredible realism paired with incredible acting, "All The President's Men" more than delivers. “Goddamn it, get in and get those files. Blow the safe and get it.”
