Annual blood work

Andie Bernal

Yearly blood work is vital in prevention and maintenance of common health conditions. Many decide against going to the doctor because they only get sick once a year or do not like the quick, but uncomfortable feeling of having their blood drawn. This, however, is more necessary than some realize as it verifies you are taking the correct medication, correct dosages, and do not have any underlying health conditions. This is important so doctors can give quality health care. According to the American Clinical Laboratory Association, "At a time when lab tests guide more than 70 percent of medical decisions and personalized medicine opens new windows to wellness, clinical lab professionals play an increasingly important role in today’s healthcare system,” said ACLA President Alan Mertz. “From early detection and diagnosis of disease to individualized treatment plans based on a person’s unique genetic makeup, clinical lab testing is key to improving healthcare quality and containing long-term health costs.” Patients are strongly urged to take control of their health as this is directly affects their life and future.
