During the COVID-19 pandemic, I found myself online shopping a lot. Browsing through random things on Amazon or other websites I began to notice a pattern. After looking at absolutely anything every single page I visited after that would be plagued with related ads. These targeted ads had seen my interests and were presenting me with relevant material. For advertising this at worse raises privacy concerns about companies mining data but there is a rising trend of targeted news coverage. This has the potential to affect how people in a specific region view local, national, and global news.
