When picking and choosing what news sources we are going to focus on, many of us be unaware of the visual rhetoric strategy many newspapers use in hopes of attracting readers. After looking at Newseum's, "Todays Front Pages," page on their website, it is clear to see many news sources are taking advantage of this attraction. By using different text fonts and imagery, news sources are able to grasp a readers attention immediately. Throughout my scrolling of the website, I have found the newspaper front pages that had a large, engaging headline in a bold font followed by a large, colorful, and emotion-filled image to be more attracting than a more casual headline followed by an enormous story with maybe one small image.
An example of an engaging headline I found was, "State of Alaska moves notorious "magic bus" from stampede trail." Although I do not know what the "magic bus" is, this headline makes me want to read more.
