Bad News: Facebook is not a news source!

Facebook is one of the largest social media platforms in the world and is used a lot by individuals to get there news, that's an issue. According to Pews Research, "Facebook is by far the largest social networking site, reaching 67% of U.S. adults. The two-thirds of Facebook users who get news there, then, amount to 44% of the general population." Facebook is a great place to check up on friends and family, but when it comes to the news it is more than lackluster. This is due to the use of Facebook's cache system in which the platform gathers data about individuals and tailors their feeds to be filled with stuff they would want to see. This causes the site to fill individuals' feeds with articles from not so trustworthy sites that do not report real news. Individuals will see these articles and believe the headline right away and will get tricked by these sites. That is why though Facebook is perfect for seeing your niece and nephew, it is best to leave the news surfing to dedicated news platforms.
