BBC Fake News Hunters

Tristan Campbell

Something that many people are unaware of today is that BBC has had its own disinformation team for quite a long time -- so long that "BBC Monitoring was set up 80 years ago at the onset of the Second World War..." to find false information in propaganda and newspapers. Over their time of investigation, they have seen a shift in the trend of persuasion to one of confusion. They have done investigations for all over the world: in China, Russia, Iran. Each example of fake news has many similarities and contrasts, and BBC Monitoring has worked to discover the techniques of each and share it on social media and their main website (albeit with a paywall).
