Reddit is a very unique social media app. It is comprised mainly of text posts like Twitter. I would say it is a bit easier to personalize the content that you see because instead of following people, you mainly follow topics. However, the “News” tab on Reddit is not automatically personalized. There is an option to personalize the feed, but at it’s default, it shows top news stories based on their popularity with users. According to a user on https://www.quora.com/How-does-Reddit-work-How-can-I-use-it-effectively , “Reddit works as Newspaper where all of its users are entitled to its own opinion. Unlike facebook, twitter and any other social media platform. Posts and comments are not limited to a group of your friends or followers.” (Regala 1). Reddit differs from other social media apps because the news is not based on a specific user’s interests, but rather the amount of traffic a post receives.
