Snapchat is less of a social media app and more of a messaging app. This doesn’t stop Snapchat from trying to incorporate news into their interface though. Underneath where you’d find your friends’ “stories”, Snapchat has its “Discover” section, where you’ll find short videos created by big companies like MTV, Cosmopolitan, and Daily Mail. It also incorporates stories from some of Snapchat’s most popular users like James Charles. Although the user will never actively seek out this type of media from Snapchat, the app is doing this to try to keep you longer. Snapchat describes this Discover page as “The For You section has recommended Shows, sponsored Stories, and Stories from publishers, creators, Snap Stars, and the community.” More information can be found on Snapchat’s website, https://support.snapchat.com/en-US/article/discover .
