Boy Scouts of Bankruptcy

Nathan Cook

In the past couple of weeks, the Boys Scouts of America have faced countless sexual abuse allegations that have surfaced after decades of silence from former scouts. With thousands of victims coming forth about sexual abuse, BSA has evaluated their options and recently decided on filing for bankruptcy. According to a New York attorney whose defending over 300 victims of sexual abuse, "the bankruptcy would be 'bigger in scale than any other sex abuse bankruptcy'" and "'one of the largest corporate bankruptcies.'" As the Boy Scouts' bankruptcy is evaluated, it is estimated to be between $1 billion and $10 billion in assets with $500 million- $1 billion in liabilities. Will BSA be able to recover and continue in the future?
