Breaking Barriers

jmonroe11

Robin Roberts is one of the best journalists of our generation. She has worked in broadcasting/journaling for the past 30 years. Roberts is one of the few black women in an industry dominated by white men. Her accomplishments include five Emmy awards, Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism, "Most Trusted Person on Television," and much more.

She has also been challenged. Roberts was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and MDS five years later. Luckily, she received a bone marrow transplant from her sister and was able to survive. Roberts then successfully rose awareness for the need of donors. She once said "be patient and persistent. Life is not so much what you accomplish as what you overcome."
