Each post I've made over the past few weeks have been over the way that social media platforms broadcast their news. Behind the scenes are people or group of people using data, strategies, and algorithms to make sure that their target audience is reached. A lot of work has gone into these algorithmic processes. Sometimes it can be frustrating when you receive a lot of unwanted content or ads. It may make you feel as if the collected data in the algorithms are wrong and don't apply to you. "Algorithms play an increasingly important role in selecting what information is considered most relevant to us, a crucial feature of our participation in public life." It dose apply to you, and the rest of the world. Sometimes the worlds opinion outweighs your own which makes the better part of the content percentage your sources provide. Sometimes for the greater good as well.
