Can news coverage be influenced by push notifications?

This is due the hyper-personalizing and geotargeting being used through news applications as well as push notifications. These, including social filtering are tactics used in order to increase user engagement from people who have access to news outlets. The use of communication through unique messages to target a certain type of audience according to the populations based on: channel or platform, behavioral information. Local elections are able to obtain national interest, which makes election coverage applicable to several types of audiences determined by their location. Personalized push notifications usually correspond with frames for local or national audiences and both focus on the same story. However, its not always likely that an individual will press on the notification to see the story. On the other hand, they have shown unique personalizing opportunities when it comes to location and the controlled capture of behavioral patterns.
