Journalists have recently been facing a wave of layoffs in 2019 as the industry is losing customers and the positions are not sustainable in our current society. This causes journalists to become freelancers or part-time in search of financial stability. Some must even leave the journalism industry altogether so they can have more job stability in their future. The future of journalism is in danger for both the customers and the journalists. A journalist for the Washington Post, Margaret Sullivan said “Journalism stands to lost a generation of diverse talent.”
This issue makes me wonder, how can I be a better consumer to prevent the fall of this industry?
