Gabe Schneider, in the article “Another year of empty promises on diversity,” asks a great question, “So what will come of the commitments to anti-racism and staff diversity?” That is a serious question. There is noise all around us regarding what is and what should be. Life can not escape the resounding racist beat—the tragic, traumatic, and ever true music that serenades us with deep oppression. Schneider poignantly makes the case that we have to progress from idle chit chat to vicissitude. Talk is cheap. Actions change things. Schneider offers a gut-wrenching reality check that in 2021 we aren’t really there yet. Sigh! Deep breath! Now what?
