As I shared in a previous post, journalism seems to be on the decline. One of the reasons I mentioned is that journalism does not have the social impact that it used to. In order to combat this, Mariana Santos, founder and CEO of "Chicas Poderosas," believes that collaboration can help. She states in her blog post titled, "The future of journalism is collaborative," that journalism is typically seen as a lonely and competitive job where journalists fight to get a hold of the new scoops. In her post, she stresses that collaboration "... offers the possibility of improved coverage, the chance to tackle important issues with a more complex approach and learning and exchanging experiences." I agree that a more dynamic approach to journalism can benefit the industry as people like seeing more perspective and creativity than what just one person can offer. Collaborations often lead to better and more interesting work that could easily get more people's attention; this could surely contribute to the journalism industry.
