With the breakthrough of technology the whole world has changed which has taken a toll on journalism. Journalism is not the same as before anymore and it has put the future of journalism in question. Journalism is affected by “media consolidation, layoffs, general financial bleakness, rampant mistrust among a hopelessly divided public”, as well as “mis- and disinformation in a presidential election year with a man on the ballot who wants to undermine the press” according to Laura Davis, an assistant professor at the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. Due to these reasons not only journalism is in danger, but our democracy is also being impeded. The only way left for journalists is to adapt themselves to the change and “be more thoughtful, relevant, and transparent” that will make their work more valuable and take journalism in a new direction. The main thing is that journalism has to be context-based rather than being manipulated by politics or social media which is ruining its’ integrity. Context can either harm people or do good and the importance of good context should no longer be ignored.
