COVID-19 Closing Schools

As the cases of the coronavirus across the globe begin to rise at an increasingly fast rate, the closing of schools became a top priority in order to flatten the curve. A school environment is easy to spread a virus in, especially in schools with a large number of students in close proximity. This also puts the staff in schools at risk. So obviously it was needed that schools be shut down during this time, but what about the downsides? The disruption of education would be a big one. Although many continue with online learning, there are many students all over who don't have the things needed to do so. In that case, "missing half a semester, which is what many schools are looking at, is a significant hit to education." The benefits outweigh the harm done, but those negatives could have a major impact.
