Dangerous Data Leaks

jwilcox6

During the start of April 2021, Facebook came under fire once again for leaking the largest amount of user information, 533 MILLION users to be exact, off of the Facebook servers. This demonstrates that we must hold large companies accountable to a larger extent, as they are able to do virtually whatever they want with our sensitive information. "That data included things like email addresses and phone numbers", which may not have a direct and serious impact, this information can still definitely be used in a negative fashion. (Lily Hay Newman, What Really Caused..) Along with holding large tech companies more responsible with our sensitive information, we also must be less willing to put our sensitive data out there, as we never know the indirect consequences of putting our phone number into a website.
