Journalist jobs used to pay much more than they are being paid now. Journalists are being laid off, according to neimanlab, “CJR puts the number of journalist jobs lost at more than 3,100”. This number doesn’t seem to decrease in 2020, in fact journalist now are settling down for jobs that don’t pay a lot, have no job security, and no benefits. With the future of journalism declining and with more people witnessing the decline in journalism, there will be a shortage of journalists in the future. This shortage will continue unless social media companies start hiring journalist to maybe bring some real stories and events to their platforms. Journalism takes talent and not everyone who puts an article or story out there is a journalist. Therefore, we need to grow respect for the journalist who follow their dreams and provide a truthful story.
