President Trump's impeachment brought about a feeling of rejoice and justice to Democrats across the U.S. On the other hand, the action carried out by the House was seen as a waste of time by many Republicans. Wherever you identify yourself on the political spectrum, it is interesting to explore the various ways newspapers depicted this event, which has only occurred three times in U.S. history, on their front page. For example, on the Los Angeles Times, an image of Trump and his biggest foe Speaker Nancy Pelosi is shown. It is also important to note that the Speaker also hails from the state of California, which is also comprised of many Democrats. To some, Pelosi could be seen as a hero for bringing charges to President Trump. This could explain why she is pictured with Trump on the front page. It is also interesting to acknowledge under the headline, the LA Times include that "lawmakers approve abuse of power, obstruction articles", otherwise known as the charges that were brought against the President.
On the other hand, I found another front page from the Boston Herald that chose to portray this event differently. It was interesting to see on this newspaper, it included three-worded summaries from people that seemed to side with Trump, or rather the irrelevance of the entire impeachment by calling it a "hate-filled charade" and forecasting a "quick trial ahead".
I found it interesting how one newspaper mentioned the crimes Trump was accused of committing to make him out as the bad guy, while another seemed to be backing him up by including words from other Republicans, expressing their annoyance with the impeachment.
