Different News Stations, Different News

Jackson cantrell

So the other day I was reading a Fox News article about Bubba Wallace, a African American NASCAR driver. Earlier in the week at the Talladega Speedway he had found a Noose tied to his garage door. This was seen as a major deal especially during the time our society is going through with the Black Lives Matter movement. The Fox News article reported that the FBI investigated the situation and concluded that the "noose" had been there for several years and was just used as a normal garage door pull rope. But when I saw the CNN news article about the same situation, the article only briefly mentioned what the FBI found in their investigation. instead CNN news article put profound focus on what the angry Bubba Wallace wanted to say. instead of CNN using creditable information from a government agency to settle the situation, CNN used a rhetorical strategy of Pathos to use Bubba Wallace's opinions to promote more emotion to the reader rather then solid facts to settle the situation ethically.
