Looking at front pages of several newspapers, from the Newseum archives, on December 19, 2019, the style and format are significantly varied regarding the news about the House of Representatives' impeaching of Trump. The Boston Herald's photo and headline takes up almost the entire page, making sure the reader doesn't miss the big news. The Free Lance Star's article is tiny as well as the photo and headline, as if to state the story isn't that important. And the Battle Creek Enquirer has a headline that doesn't even mention the impeachment. The size of the photos and headlines are not the only differences to note. Politico's photo of Trump with the long, dark clothing makes one picture the grim reaper and then combined with the bold type one word headline "Impeached" give an ominous feeling. The Hartford Courant's page shows a stoic, serious looking photo of Trump that almost makes one feel guilty about what the House is doing to him. And the Ottowa Sun's more humerous headline "Trump Thumped" along with a photo of his hair blowing seemingly off his head seems to be mocking or making fun of him. According to Malcolm X, "The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses." Imagine if you only had access to one newspaper or news source. Which one would you choose? How would you choose? Choose carefully!
