Gabe Schneider wrote an article on diversity in the newsroom titled “Another year of empty promises on diversity”. In his article, he cited that it has been 50 years since the Kerner Commission asked newsrooms in the US to stop seeing news only through “white men’s eyes and white perspective” and claimed that newsrooms are still making little to no effort to diversify the news that we all consume. The problem with this is that the news we should be able to trust is only appealing to one particular audience in america, thus making the public media “[look] nothing like the public” (Schneider 5)
