Fostering noteworthy and unconventional perspectives is intrinsic with being human. With this being said, the voices of POCS have been muted as substantial diversity is remarkably lacking within the broad field of journalism. As Gabe Schneider so passionately argues in NiemanLab’s Predictions for Journalism 2021, “public media often looks nothing like the public'' and therefore cannot speak on the issues pertinent to the communities they are serving. With 2021, Schneider asserts that if shifts in ideology amongst head newsroom leaders don’t take place, there will be no substantial change. The Black Lives Matter movement had a moderate impact on improving black representation within media, however Schneider believes that this aftereffect is fading fast and journalism will soon revert back to its non inclusive state of normalcy.
