Right now,we are in a crisis. COVID-19 has taken a toll on many people and it is hurting their pockets. As many know by now, the government plans on sending a $1,200 stimulus check to all eligible adults in America. However, scammers are already on the prowl. Many have already “received phishing emails that include phony websites that look official,” trying to collect personal information to deposit said stimulus check into their account. This is false. The IRS will not call, email, or text anyone nor demand payment in order to receive a check. These scammers can get to any vulnerable individual including the elderly. It is important to stay informed and spot a scammer before taking any financial actions.
